MIPIM 2013 Japan: Opportunities, Outlook and Unique Practices of local Real Estate Business

  • During the panel discussion, leading Japanese real estate companies gave partipants the keys to enter the market.
  • The Japanese real estate market is witnessing a revival of occupiers and investors’ appetite after a long downtrend. Global investors, especially core investors, are now shifting back their focus to Japan. The measures revealed by the new government led by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who took power late last year, have also caught investor’s attention.
    However, there are still many investors hesitating to invest in the Japanese market due to its complexity and low transparency.
    Specifically, unique local laws and business practices are great obstacles for foreign investors intending to invest in real estate in the country.
